  The North Bay Shipwreck and Wildlife tour is the ideal tour for nature lovers and shipwreck enthusiast alike. Explore the North bay with our brand new and amazing Clear Bottom Kayaks! This beginner and family friendly kayak tour will lead you into North Bay, given it's name by Great Lake mariners due to it being the Northern most safe harbor on the peninsula. Many ships were no match for the powerful storms and gales that the area produces. The murderous Alpena gale storm of October 1880 was especially disaturous. Waves pounded Cana Island Lighthouse, flooding the lower level of the keeper's house and forcing the keeper and his family upstairs Many ships were lost in the great storm. Today the bay is scattered with shipwrecks, many that are still visible in the shallow waters. The most famous shipwrecks include the Cherubusco that sank in 1872, the G.J. Tracy 1881, and the A. We offer books for children, teens and adults; audio books on CD, cassette, playaway and downloadable format; music on CD; software CD's; magazines and newspapers; videos and DVD's; computers with free Internet access; in-house and online reference and inter-library loan services; art prints; a toy library; and themed book bins for child care providers.
